The firm traces its beginnings to 1982 when Paul F. Marso and William C. Michelson started their partnership as Marso and Michelson. Paul F. Marso, William C. Michelson and Thomas G. Harrigan met during their first few days in law school at William Mitchell College of Law in 1977 where they later graduated together in 1981. Paul F. Marso and William C. Michelson opened their first office in Richfield, Minnesota on January 2, 1982. They practiced there for seven years before moving to the Edinborough Corporate Center in Edina, Minnesota on May 1, 1989. On May 2, 1990 Attorney Thomas G. Harrigan merged his firm known as the Harrigan Law Office with Marso & Michelson and together became the law firm of Marso, Michelson & Harrigan, P.A. In April, 1999 the partners purchased their own office building at 3101 Irving Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota in the Uptown area where they continue to practice law today.

Their uptown office is situated in a friendly residential neighborhood close to Hennepin Avenue and Lake Calhoun. Clients find that the office is easy to find and parking is readily available. There is plenty of parking on the streets and there is a space where clients can park in the firm's lot. Paul Marso practices commercial litigation and probate of estates. He has practiced in these areas for the majority of his career and represents many large corporations with an emphasis on the local and print industries. William Michelson practices in consumer law, family law, and business law. William focuses much of his practice on consumer protection. He is very knowledgeable in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and has appeared in Federal Court many times. William also represents clients who have trouble paying their credit card bills and defends debt lawsuits. Tom Harrigan practices in personal injury, labor law, and arbitration. Tom also serves as a neutral arbitrator.
